A Japanese-inspired clothing brand founded in Hartlepool is calling on North East creatives to enter its first design competition, which is free and open to anyone aged 16 and over.
5C5V is a one-person business. Founder Matt started it in Hartlepool and runs it around a full-time job and his family. The brand is built on five Japanese cities and five virtues: hope, dream, harmony, strength and trust.
The top five entries win £500, £300, £200, £100 and £75. Winning designs will be made and sold on 5c5v.co.uk with the designer's name on them, and designers get half the profit on every sale for two years. They keep the copyright, and entries that don't win are never used. Entries close on 26 November.
“I'd rather pay designers than influencers,” Matt said. “As 5C5V started in Hartlepool, I'd love to see some North East talent among the winners.”

Anyone can also design with the brand for free. 5C5V Studio puts a kanji, with its meaning checked, or a name in katakana on a tee, hoodie or cap, which makes it a personal Christmas gift. Omikuji, a digital shrine fortune, draws a one-of-one design that's retired for good once someone buys it.
