Meet Sue

What can we expect from show?

Two Hours of Just Great Music, always. Uplifting honest conversation and a friendly caring voice when you need some company. Looking at the funny side of life!

What brought you to radio?

The Press, after a piece was featured in The Durham Advertiser about a Singer who turned to Comedy and won an award for best Club Comedian in North East (Which was very male dominated at that time). BBC Tees asked if I would do an interview, well I absolutely loved it and I knew it was where I wanted to be. Presenter Matthew Davies asked me to Host his show while he was in Panto and then I was offered my own show!

What are some of your favourite memories of Durham?

I am born and bred Durham City and pretty much know everyone, its a delightful place steeped in history with a magnificent Cathedral and University. I have so many memories of Durham, it's where I met my Husband Ian at school, where I got Married and had our children, where I skated on the ice rink and where I trained as a singer and actor. I joined my first Band in Durham too. My Parents had a Fish And Chip Shop in Allergate Durham and Student lets. I'm proud to be from Durham City.

What do you love about County Durham?

The close knit Mining villages and how the communities look after each other, their different dialects, their local Social Clubs. I know the area very well having worked in Clubland for forty four years.

And what about the wider north east?

The People. I have travelled all over the World and I can honestly say the North East people are the friendliest and happiest, they are as they say, The salt of the earth. I love how proud they are of their Heritage and wonderful landmarks like The Angel Of The North,T he Bridges across The Tyne, our award winning Coastline. The list is endless.

What are your top 3 songs of all time?

The Police, Every Breath You Take.

Steve Harley Cockney Rebel, Come up and see me make me smile.

Tina Turner, Nutbush City Limits.

How would you spend your ideal weekend?

With Family or Friends and I do enjoy the outdoors especially the beach and swimming in the sea.

Hear Sue Mondays and Wednesday from 7pm, and Weekend mornings from 10am.
