Bright Futures Ferryhill CIC, a local community interest company dedicated to uplifting and supporting residents, has announced that its popular Community Pantry is moving to a new, larger space within the Ferryhill Sport and Education Centre.
The move comes in direct response to a surge in local demand over recent months. By relocating to a expanded space, Bright Futures Ferryhill will be able to stock a much wider selection of household essentials and extend its opening days and hours, ensuring even more residents can benefit from discounted, affordable shopping.
Bright Futures Ferryhill plays a vital role in the local community through a range of impactful initiatives, including:
- Free Weekly Youth Club: Welcoming up to 40 children every week to connect, play, and learn.
- Holiday Clubs: Supporting families during school breaks. Over the recent summer period alone, more than 750 children booked on to enjoy fun activities, day trips, and a nutritious hot meal.
- Community Pantry: An inclusive service offering affordable household items and groceries to anyone looking to stretch their budget.
The expanded space will feature a broad selection of quality stock at accessible, budget-friendly prices. With the holiday season just around the corner, shoppers will also find great deals on Christmas gifts—perfect for treating loved ones or picking up a festive bargain.
The Pantry operates on a completely open-door basis:
-
No referrals required
-
Open to everyone (including residents from outside Ferryhill and first-time visitors)
-
No pressure to buy—all are welcome to drop in and browse
Because Bright Futures is a Community Interest Company, every purchase made at the pantry directly fuels the organisation’s long-term sustainability, allowing them to reinvest back into local programs and help more families.
To prepare for the big move, the current pantry will close for two weeks starting 5th November. During the transition period, residents can still access essentials via pre-packed pantry bags:
- Pre-Packed Bag Collection Dates: Wednesday 11th November & Wednesday 18th November
- Collection Time: 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM
- Location: Ferryhill Sport and Education Centre
- (No advance ordering necessary—simply drop by during collection hours).
Bright Futures Ferryhill invites the entire community to come along on the 24th of November at 2pm to explore the new facility, support a great local cause, and celebrate this exciting expansion.
