Residents, colleagues and visitors at St Margaret's Care Home in County Durham enjoyed a fantastic day of World Cup-themed fun as Care Home Open Week continued with an afternoon filled with laughter, teamwork and community spirit.
The celebrations kicked off with a special visit from an ice cream van, giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy a delicious treat and creating plenty of smiles throughout the home.
The competitive spirit soon came alive with a lively staff penalty shoot-out. Home Manager Laura Langridge and Deputy Manager Vicky Logue bravely stepped into goal to face a series of shots from their colleagues, much to the delight of the crowd. There were plenty of cheers, laughter and even a few impressive saves along the way.
To ensure everyone could get involved, residents also took part in the sporting fun using an extra-large football. Residents tested their aim by throwing the giant ball towards the goalkeepers, creating some wonderful moments and proving to be a huge hit with everyone watching.
The event formed part of St Margaret's Care Home's Care Home Open Week celebrations, which welcomed members of the local community into the home and showcased the warm, friendly and inclusive atmosphere enjoyed by residents and colleagues every day.
Home Manager Laura Langridge said:
"It was wonderful to see residents, colleagues and visitors coming together for such a fun and inclusive afternoon. The World Cup theme brought out lots of laughter and friendly competition, and the residents really enjoyed being part of the penalty shoot-out.
"Care Home Open Week is all about celebrating life in our home and welcoming the wider community in, and this event was a perfect example of the warm and happy atmosphere we are so proud of at St Margaret's."
As day four of Care Home Open Week came to a close, excitement was already building for the final day of celebrations, with residents and colleagues looking forward to ending the week with even more fun, laughter and memorable moments.
