A 74-year-old motorist has tragically lost his life following a single-vehicle accident in County Durham over the weekend.
Emergency responders, which included an air ambulance crew, rushed to John Street North in the Meadowfield area at approximately 3:20 PM on Saturday, September 12. Medical personnel attempted to treat the Citroen driver at the scene, but despite their efforts, he was sadly pronounced dead soon afterward.
According to the North East Ambulance Service, multiple medical resources were dispatched to the location alongside the Great North Air Ambulance Service. One individual was subsequently transported by road to the University Hospital of North Durham.
Durham Constabulary confirmed that inquiries into the fatal incident are active and ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who holds relevant information, to reach out to Durham Police by dialing 101 and referencing incident number 240 of September 12.
