Durham OnAir and Spennymoor Town FC have today announced the extension of their media partnership, ensuring fans can continue to enjoy live broadcast commentary of the majority of home and away matches across the National League North and FA Cup for the 2026/27 season.
The new campaign kicked off this weekend, with the Moors traveling to face Morecambe at The Bay Stadium.
Live match coverage will form the centerpiece of an expanded sports lineup on Durham OnAir, showcasing a wide range of local North East sports—including football, cricket, tennis, and rugby—alongside regular live Premier League updates throughout Saturday afternoons.
The 2026/27 season also introduces a fresh look for the broadcast. The flagship Durham Sport programme is now produced in-house by Durham OnAir and hosted by sports journalist Joe Burton. Burton takes over the mic from commentator Mark Simpson, who departs after several seasons with the club.

"We want to extend a huge thank you to Mark for his fantastic work and dedication to our live coverage over the past couple of years. At the same time, we are thrilled to welcome Joe Burton to the team and are delighted that our ongoing media coverage with Spennymoor Town FC will continue through to the end of the 2026/27 season."
Durham OnAir is available across the North East on DAB Digital Radio. Listeners can also tune in via the free Durham OnAir smartphone app or by asking Alexa devices to "Enable the Durham On Air Skill" and "Start Durham On Air."
