said:

“It is an absolute pleasure, and I am so excited for Venue Sunderland to be hosting this event again and to be able to do it face to face this year.  International Women’s Day is an event that we as a university have ran and celebrated over the years.

We have been running this event in Hope Street Xchange since it was built in 2017. It’s

amazing to be teamed back up with Laura Brewis from Sunderland Culture and for us to also be working with Laura Middleton from The Office Rocks, one of our tenants at Hope Street Xchange who was super keen to be involved.

This years theme is #BreakTheBias and we were keen to hear from inspiring women who

have the power to break down these barriers. It is so important for us to unite in efforts to

embrace collective female empowerment.”

The evening will also be an opportunity to raise awareness and take donations on

behalf of Smart Works, a vital support service which gives women the confidence,

the self-belief and the practical tools they require to succeed at interview and start a

new chapter of their life. Their services can be accessed by anyone who identifies as

female, is unemployed and who is based in the North East.

Laura Middleton, Founder and Managing Director from Sunderland based content

marketers, The Office Rocks said:

“We are delighted to collaborate with Hope Street Xchange and Sunderland Culture to bring

this exciting and energetic event to Sunderland. The evening promises to be a night of

pure inspiration with a number of influential females taking centre stage to share and

reflect on their journeys.

I’m really excited to share the stage with so many diverse speakers who have a

breadth of knowledge across a host of industries, with the evening topped off by

music, high tea and prosecco, whilst also supporting the vital work of Smart Works

too.”
