Check out the new menu at The Bay Horse by Watson!

Open 7 days a week, The Bay Horse By Watson re-opened its restaurant last October and this is a local dining experience you do not want to miss. We sent Drive Time presenter Charlie Sisson to try out the brand new menu!

Your Friendly Local

Located in the heart of Brandon village, the newly relaunched restaurant is connected directly to the pub and sports lounge. But don’t be fooled, though it’s just a quick walk through the hall to access the bustling pub, this restaurant transports you to another world. On a busy Friday night, I would’ve put a bet I could hear people enjoying their start of the weekend celebrations, but I didn’t hear a peep from within the stylish animal themed restaurant walls. The atmosphere was elegant, contemporary and slick and really did entice all of your senses. Upon entry you are encompassed with the gorgeous aromas coming from their gigantic diffusers, your ears are soothed by the relaxing playlist and your eyes are excited by the modern decor. We received a warm welcome from the friendly staff, who escorted us to our table where we are giving the new menu, ready to tantalise our tastebuds.

The Main Event

The Chef at the Bay Horse By Watson is a genius. From looking at the menu you can see they have really considered how to balance and enhance flavours of each dish. From pub classics, to burgers, pizzas and cooked on the grill, this diverse (yet succinct) menu has something for everyone to enjoy, including a kids menu! Every single bite was delectable.

To start I had the patas bravas, which has the perfect balance of spice. For my main, I had the blue cheese and mushroom pizzas, and at the chefs recommendation added some caramelised onion on top too, an incredible compliment to a mouth watering pizza. I also tried some of my husband's Malaysian curry with homemade poppadoms. I have to say we both agreed it was the best curry we’ve had in years! Each dish had vinesse, flare, consideration and was presented beautifully. Daily, the desserts are changed, and I had the absolute pleasure (and challenge) to fit in a biscoff brownie at the end of the evening. If you ever see it on the menu, I urge you to get it, and if need be, take some home, each mouthful was exquisite.

This family friendly local pub has everything you need, and it’s right on your doorstep. They also host an array of themed menus throughout the year, including an upcoming Valentines day menu with a singer! It’s extremely reasonably priced for the quality of food and service you receive.

With a designated lunch and Sunday dinner menus, I am so excited to return and try more of their delicious foods.
