Charity Fun Run set to Raise Vital Funds with a Rainbow of Colour

Fundraisers at St Cuthbert’s Hospice are hoping that a rainbow of colour will help to raise much needed funds for the Durham based charity. Set to be the Hospice’s first large in person event since March 2020, organisers are looking forward to welcoming the public along to take part in Rainbow Ramble on Saturday 4th September.

The brand new event will be held at Lambton Park estate, giving participants a unique opportunity to take in the stunning surroundings whilst running or walking the 5K route. Colourful powdered paint stations will line the route and those attending can experience a 'double rainbow' as they pass our paint stations twice meaning little legs or those less able can just complete one 2.5K lap if needed.

Jade McArdle, Senior Community & Events Fundraiser, said: “It’s so exciting for us to be planning ahead for this fun event. We’ve held many virtual fundraisers in the past year, but to see the smiles on people’s faces in real life, especially while covered in coloured paint, will be fantastic. The community in County Durham have supported us through the most difficult time in our Hospice history and we’re counting on them now more than ever to support our local cause and help us be there for all who need us now and in the future.”

The event is kindly sponsored by MGL Group who are long-time supporters of the Hospice. Paint stations along the route are available to be sponsored by local businesses.

County Durham Mum Gemma Munro was on hand to test out some of the paints when she arrived at the Hospice with daughters Hester (7) and Nola (4). Gemma who regularly volunteers for the Hospice said: “As a family we’ve taken part in many fundraising events for the Hospice and when the girls found out about Rainbow Ramble they were really excited to get signed up. Now they’ve been able to test out the paints they’re counting down the days until the event.”

Entry is open to all ages and you can walk, run, or even toddle the family-friendly route, which is also buggy and wheelchair accessible.
