Man in critical condition after serious Incident in Newton Aycliffe, one arrested.

A man has been arrested after a serious assault at Blakes in Newton Aycliffe yesterday (8th July). Forensic officers were on scene at the bar until late last night.


Durham Police have released a statement: "A man has been arrested following a serious assault at Blake’s Bar, in Newton Aycliffe, shortly before 7pm, on Saturday, July 8.


A man in his 50s was injured and taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, where remains in serious condition.


A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding and remains in custody.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any mobile phone footage is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident reference 489 of July 8."

A spokesperson for the North East Air Ambulance on July 8th said "We received a call at 19:35 this evening to an incident at Blakes on Beveridge Road in Newton Aycliffe.


"We sent two emergency ambulance crews and the air ambulance and took one male patient to James Cook major trauma centre in a critical condition."
