Every week we work with Visit County Durham to discover what you can explore from your door. We collected the best walks, rides and attractions, as well as a selection of fantastic events that are happening over this weekend.
Walk: Battle of Neville’s Cross Walk
Walking down Toll House Road has taken you between the lines of the two armies: the
English on the crest of the low ridge about 150 metres to the south and the Scots to the
north. Enjoy a fascinating insight into the Battle of Neville’s cross on this route.

Ride: Romaldkirk Cycle Ride
This 7-mile circular ride follows the Teesdale Railway Path and minor roads of Romaldkirk
Moor within the North Pennines National Landscape. https://www.thisisdurham.com/things-

Beauty Spot: Blackhall Rocks & Cross Gill Nature Reserve
This coastal site is important for both its geology and wildlife. The cliffs and coastal area
feature natural exposures of reef-limestone, set down 250 million years ago in the waters on
the ancient Zechstein Sea, glacial boulder clays and beds of gravel.

Attraction: Beamish - The Living Museum of the North
Beamish is a living, working museum, set in 350 acres of beautiful Durham countryside.
Be immersed in this multi-award-winning museum as you try delicious, freshly-made bread
in the Edwardian Bakery, hop aboard a tram, have your hair done in a 1950s style and
discover what life was like on the Home Front during the Second World War.
