HC-One’s St Margaret’s Care Home in Crossgate, County Durham, recently hosted its much-anticipated annual Christmas Fayre, bringing together residents, families, and the local community for a festive celebration.
The event featured a wide array of stalls showcasing homemade products created by residents, including jewellery, Christmas cards, and seasonal crafts. Local stallholders also offered a variety of festive treats, such as Christmas cakes and personalised gifts. Visitors enjoyed hot chocolate and reindeer dust, and took part in a raffle and tombola, with proceeds supporting the home’s activities.
A special highlight of the afternoon was Santa’s visit to the handmade Santa’s Grotto, delighting residents and guests alike. Families were warmly welcomed to celebrate the season together, creating a joyful atmosphere throughout the home.

Organised by Wellbeing Coordinators Jade Robson and Jaqueline Savage, with additional support from housekeeper Natalie Ridley, the fayre has already raised over £250, with raffle tickets still available for purchase.
Residents shared their excitement, describing the event as a “very merry afternoon had by all,” while families praised the staff, noting that, “The staff have spent weeks arranging this fayre and have done a great job.” Santa, Tony Thompson, a friend of the home, brought festive cheer to everyone in attendance.
Emma Grebby, Home Manager at HC-One’s St Margaret’s Care Home, said:
