New play on lying to tour to Spennymoor and Darlington

From an award winning company comes a new drama; entertaining, dark, humorous and timely and visiting Spennymoor & Darlington in October.

It’s taken the expertise of a Texan professor specialising in lying, a UK circuit judge and an
English prison to create the authenticity! And it’s about fibbing...

Lies take Chloe everywhere. Often, it’s back to school; her youthful looks allow the 26 year
old to regularly enrol at sixth form colleges. Or working in a warehouse amongst other
immigrants from Eastern Europe in the gig economy. Or into the trust of parents attracted
to the Gauloise smoking French au pair. And now, into custody.

But now she is undoubtedly in trouble. She’s already been found guilty.
And next? That depends on the psychologist’s report.

Emma is undoubtedly in trouble. She has to write the report.
It has to be accurate. So, ask a compulsive liar if she’s telling the truth.
And she is. A compulsive liar. A condition or a con, villain or victim, deserving of care or
incarceration? Chloe has never been content with one life: if you’re not happy with this one,
why not make up a new one?
So who is in the room with Emma today?

Faced with a cloud of lies where does Emma find truth and where is the honesty in her own
life? Inevitably, her self-doubt grows, shared only with friend Ruth, the one stabilising factor
in her life. Conversely, Chloe’s confidence grows as she throws down challenge after
challenge.

What price truth, reality even, in a post-truth era? If it works for a president, why not for
me? Honestly?
