A man from the North East is walking 62 miles from Saltburn Pier to Roker Pier, aiming to complete the journey within 62 hours, finishing at 20:20 on April 9th, which would have been his dad’s 62nd birthday.
Myles Mantripp will begin his 62 mile walk, at 06:20am on April 7th. He will begin at Saltburn Pier, aiming to complete the walk at Roker Pier, within 62 hours, finishing at 20:20 on April 9th.
Myles is no stranger to walking challenges, having completed a similar trail along the Northumberland coast last year.
Myles is walking to raise money for north east based charity 'If U Care Share', an organisation dedicated to supporting people at a time of need in order to prevent deaths by suicide. Myles father Ian passed away after a difficult battle with his mental health.
Myles said "I am taking on this challenge in his memory to raise funds for If U Care Share and to help raise awareness around suicide and mental health support. The walk will start at Saltburn Pier and finish at Roker Pier, passing through communities across Teesside, County Durham and Sunderland. I’m hoping to raise awareness in every town along the route and encourage conversations about suicide prevention. This challenge is deeply personal to me. Losing my dad has changed my life, and I want to use his 62nd birthday to create something meaningful that could help save lives and support families facing similar heartbreak."

On day one Myles will walk from Saltburn to Seaton Carew. Day two he will walk from Seaton Carew to Seaham, completing the challenge on day three at Roker pier in Sunderland.
Myles will be wild camping along the way and will be depending on the support of people from the local community.
