Foster carers from the North East have been celebrated for their long service commitment to providing safe homes for children and young people at Durham Cathedral.
Swiis Foster Care recently celebrated its longest-serving foster carers in the North East with
a special ceremony held at Durham Cathedral. Over 40 foster carers were in attendance,
with the longest-serving foster carer celebrating 23 years of service.
Foster carers were presented with their certificates for 5, 10 and 15 years of service, along
with a Marks and Spencer gift voucher as a token of appreciation.
A special recognition was presented to the two sons of a foster carer who had sadly passed
away last year, for their mother’s 16 dedicated years of service as a foster carer.
Swiis Registered Manager for the North East Region, Alison Lawson, said about the
celebration, “It’s a privilege to honour the incredible commitment and compassion of our
foster carers. Their dedication has transformed the lives of so many children, and this
ceremony at Durham Cathedral is a fitting tribute to their unwavering support and love.”
Swiis Foster Care remains committed to providing the support, training, and guidance to
ensure their foster carers are equipped for the role of fostering and ensuring the outcomes
for the children in their care remain outstanding.
The Fostering Network recently highlighted the national crisis in foster care with a shortfall of
6,000 1 foster carers nationwide. Driven by the need for more foster carers across the UK,
Swiis Foster Care is committed to recruiting a greater number of foster carers in Durham and
beyond who will be appropriately trained and supported to excel in their new fostering
career.
