In the Park Newcastle has announced that hometown favourites Maxïmo Park will join global superstar Lewis Capaldi as support for his huge outdoor shows at Exhibition Park this summer. Capaldi will take over the city on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th July, marking his biggest-ever outdoor headline performances in Newcastle.
Maxïmo Park return to home soil 20 years into a career that has seen them release eight acclaimed studio albums and cement their status as one of the UK’s most enduring and electrifying live bands. Joining the Thursday 9th July bill alongside them are rising Newcastle indie outfit Leazes, recently named a BBC Introducing “ones to watch” for 2026.
Wednesday 8th July opener is fast-rising Scottish singer-songwriter Jacob Alon, following an extraordinary breakthrough year, earning a Mercury Prize nomination for their debut album In Limerence, becoming the first Scottish recipient of the BBC Introducing Award and kicking off 2026 with the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award. They are joined by North Shields’ own Heidi Curtis, who has spent the past six years honing her craft from grassroots venues to sold-out support slots with Sam Fender, Paul Weller, Ben Howard, Paolo Nutini, Inhaler and The Snuts across the UK and Europe.
Set to deliver two unforgettable nights of live music in front of thousands, Capaldi’s headline performances - alongside a standout showcase of established, breakthrough and homegrown talent - promise to be a landmark summer moment for the city.
