Fearless launches campaign against crime in the North East

Independent charity Crimestoppers is launching a campaign across the North East of England to raise awareness of its youth brand Fearless and to empower young people to report crime 100% anonymously through Fearless.org. Independent charity Crimestoppers is launching a campaign across the North East of England to raise awareness of its youth brand Fearless and to empower young people to report crime 100% anonymously through Fearless.org. The charity is also offering free training for professionals who work with young people on 27 March 2025. The four-week campaign will be on Snapchat, Spotify and Google Ads. The campaign also includes a free one-hour training session for North East professionals who work with young people. Fearless.org provides non-judgemental information and advice about crime. It offers a vital, alternative way for young people who don’t want to speak to the police to pass on what they know about a crime, without having to give any personal details and 100% anonymously. Through Fearless, young people can safely share information on crime without fear of being identified. Despite being affected by crime, young people are less likely to speak up, often due to worries about speaking to the police. Crimestoppers, and its youth service Fearless, are independent of the police. Anyone with information or suspicions about crime can contact Crimestoppers 100% anonymously via a secure online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org or Fearless.org for young people. Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers’ UK Contact Centre on 0800 555 111 at any time. Fleur Brown, North East Regional Manager at the charity Crimestoppers, said: “Empowering young people to speak up against crime anonymously and without fear of retribution is at the heart of Fearless.org. We know young people want to make their communities safer, but we also understand that there are many reasons why young people may not report a crime. Being labelled a grass is one of these reasons, however there are many more including fear of repercussions, not wanting to talk to the police, not wanting to be involved and many others. This is where Fearless can help, providing young people with a safe space to give information about crime 100% anonymously. Call 0800 555 111 or complete a safe and secure anonymous online form at Fearless.org. Our charity has always kept its promise of 100% anonymity to everyone who contacts us.” A free one-hour training session will take place online at 11am on 27 March 2025. The session is for professionals working with young people across the North East of England. It will cover the Fearless anonymous reporting service and how to speak to young people about barriers to reporting crime. The session will look at the difference between ‘snitching’ and reporting, along with the bystander approach, and what it means to be an ‘active bystander’, which describes choosing to take appropriate action when you know that behaviour is not acceptable. Visit Fearless.org for more information on Fearless and the resources it has available for young people. Please note: With Fearless.org and Crimestoppers-uk.org, computer IP addresses are never traced, and no-one will ever know you contacted them. For telephone calls to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111, there is no caller line display, no 1471 facility and calls have never been traced.
