Crimestoppers urges public to help stop child exploitation across Northumberland and Tyne & Wear

National charity Crimestoppers has launched a new awareness campaign across Northumberland and Tyne & Wear, urging the public to be alert to the signs of children and young people being manipulated, coerced and controlled by adults.

The campaign highlights that any young person, regardless of background, can become a victim of sexual exploitation – often hidden from sight and taking place both online and offline,

Through social media activity and community engagement, the campaign encourages people to pass on information about those exploiting children, entirely anonymously, via Crimestoppers-uk.org or the charity’s youth service, Fearless.org.

Crimestoppers never asks for personal details. Calls to 0800 555 111 are completely anonymous and not traced. Online reports are untraceable and totally secure.

Fleur Brown, North East Regional Manager at the charity Crimestoppers, said:

“Child sexual exploitation is a devastating form of abuse that can affect any young person, anywhere. Those exploiting children often build trust to groom them – sometimes online, sometimes in person – before manipulating and abusing them.

We all have a role in protecting children from harm. If you see something that doesn’t feel right, please tell our charity anonymously. Your information could help safeguard a vulnerable young person from further exploitation.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or visit via Crimestoppers-uk.org or Fearless.org

Always call 999 if a child is in immediate danger.

Please note: No-one will ever know you contacted Crimestoppers. With Fearless.org and Crimestoppers-uk.org, computer IP addresses are never traced. For telephone calls to the independent charity’s UK Contact Centre, there is no caller line display and no 1471 facility. You will stay 100% anonymous. Always.
