Durham OnAir has been broadcasting across the North East on DAB+ since 2021. We currently broadcast across the following areas; Newton Aycliffe, Shildon, South Durham, Darlington, Bishop Auckland, Crook, Brandon, Stanley, Gateshead, Newcastle, Ponteland, South Shields, Whitley Bay.

To find us on DAB:

1. Check your radio has DAB+, most modern digital radios are DAB+. Look out for this image...
2. Re-scan your radio using the auto scan feature. 
3. Look out for Durham OnAir on your radios station list. 
4. Add Durham OnAir to your presets. 

What Next?

We have spent the past five years preparing for a full DAB coverage across County Durham. The process has hit many snags and unexpected delays. We have to wait for OFCOM to allow us to broadcast in certain places. We still have ambitions to be available on DAB radio across the major hubs of County Durham, and work is being conducted behind the scenes to make that happen. 

For privacy reasons, we cant confirm exactly where or when we will be expanding next. We expect to be broadcasting to a new area by January 2026. All updates will be posted on this page.
