Ushaw Historic House invites families to brave ancient ‘Wood of Wolves’ this Half Term & Halloween

The name Ushaw is derived from the Anglo Saxon ‘Ulf’s Shaw,’ meaning ‘wood of wolves,’ and has inspired the venue to host Halloween themed events for families at locations across its 550-acre country estate; from October 22nd to 30th.

Events planned include a spine chilling illuminated outdoor Halloween trail, storytelling and crafting sessions in a woodland yurt, children’s theatre workshops and a freakishly fun Forest School.

Spooky sleuths can also test themselves to see if they can crack a fiendish code in an outdoor trail that travels through a haunted forest, past a garden of bones and into a spiders’ nest. (*full line up of events and details below)

Andrew Heard, visitor programmes manager at Ushaw, said: “Halloween is a time of year that really captivates children’s imaginations and provides wonderful opportunities for families to get out and about and have lots of fun together.

This half term, we have planned events that will suit children and young people across a broad age range, from Harry Potter inspired theatre fun to our blood curdling night trail, which lights up once dusk falls. Ushaw is all about wonder, amazement and surprise, so we’d like to invite families to come and experience Halloween fun this half term in the ‘wood of wolves.’
