Durham OnAir To Broadcast Spennymoor Town FC Commentary in New Media Partnership

Durham OnAir, the new local radio station for County Durham, and Spennymoor

Town FC, have today announced a new media partnership that will see the station

broadcast live match commentary of Moors’ games next season.

The club has been delivering live match commentary since January 2019 via a dedicated

Mixlr channel, but, with Durham OnAir now on board, both the quality and professionalism

of the show is set to be taken to new heights.

Sam Lupton, managing director of Durham OnAir said: “We have had exciting plans for our

sport output since we launched last November, but unfortunately, COVID-19 restrictions

over the past 6 months have meant we have been unable to feature coverage of our local

teams.

“Now that the new season is about to get underway, we are thrilled to be working with

Spennymoor Town FC to be able to make National League football accessible to all.

“Commentary will be provided live from the ground by existing Spennymoor

commentators Sam Fletcher and Adam Hassell, with Durham OnAir sport presenter Jack

Gray, live in the studio offering updates from other North East fixtures, and national sport.”

Durham OnAir is the new local radio station for County Durham, which launched in

November 2020. It offers 24/7 updates on local news and events, as well as playing a

selection of “Just Great Music” from the past five decades.

A spokesman from Durham OnAir said: “Durham had been left without a dedicated radio

service for well over a year. The people of County Durham deserve a radio station that is

dedicated to them. We don't live in Newcastle, Sunderland or Teesside.

“We have our own identity and we wanted to create a radio station that represents that,

made by people with strong connections to Durham”.

The first match to be broadcast on Durham OnAir will be a pre-season friendly, with the

Moors facing League One side Sunderland AFC on July 3rd at 3pm.

Durham OnAir broadcasts online 24 hours a day, and expects to announce a DAB Radio

launch date later in 2021.

Listeners can hear Durham OnAir match commentary by downloading the Durham OnAir

smart phone app (Available for iPhone and Android devices), by listening on their Alexa or

Google Smart Speakers, or by tuning in at durhamonair.com - Full instructions on how to
