ABBA & Elton tribute plus A Christmas Carol to be performed in Cathedral

Chapterhouse Theatre Company are delighted to bring two of their productions to Durham Cathedral this winter. People will have the opportunity to see a musical extravaganza or a traditional stage adaptation of a classic Dickensian novel amongst the beauty of one of Britain’s great cathedrals.

On Friday 4th and Saturday 5th November, 21st Century ABBA and Elton will provide a fantastic evening of music in the unique surroundings of Durham Cathedral. Both tribute acts will entertain the audience with familiar music from ABBA and Elton John combining stunning vocals, live musicians, and glittering costumes to ensure that people have an entertaining evening of singing and dancing.

As Christmas draws near, Chapterhouse returns to Durham Cathedral on Tuesday 13th December for their winter tradition of touring their stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. This is one of literatures best-loved and most magical tales of joy and discovery amidst the Yuletide period. A Christmas Carol is brought to life as a traditional production, complete with beautiful period costumes, song, dance, and a generous helping of Christmas spirit. The show is the perfect festive treat for all ages as the winter evenings start to draw in.

Richard Main, Producer at Chapterhouse, said: “To bring alive these musical events in the nave of the cathedral will simply be joyous and I can't wait for November to come around and be able to join in what will be a festive occasion of music and dancing, followed by our wonderful retelling of the most Christmassy of Christmas stories in A Christmas Carol.”

Tickets for both shows are available on Durham Cathedral’s website (www.durhamcathedral.co.uk), and for further details about Chapterhouse’s tour visit www.chapterhouse.org.
