A Durham fostering agency is celebrating its foster carers' dedication ahead of Mother’s Day with ‘Every Parent Day’. Swiis Foster Care is recognising the invaluable contribution of foster carers who provide safe, loving homes to children and young people, marking the occasion with a celebration coffee morning and presentation of gifts.
‘Every Parent Day’, held just before Mother’s Day in the UK, acknowledges that fostering is a
role embraced by people from all walks of life and that it’s not just mothers who foster.
To mark this occasion, Swiis Foster Care presented their Durham foster carers with flowers
as a token of appreciation for their dedication and the positive difference they make every
day.
Alison Lawson, Registered Manager for Swiis Foster Care North East, said "Our foster
carers show extraordinary commitment every single day. They open their homes and their
hearts to children who need stability, understanding and care. Their dedication to ensuring
children and young people achieve the best possible outcomes is at the core of everything
we do at Swiis Foster Care. We are incredibly proud to celebrate our carers and the
life‑changing difference they make on ‘Every Parent Day.’”
Swiis Foster Care remains committed to providing the round-the-clock support, expert
training, and reassuring guidance needed to ensure their foster carers are fully equipped for
the role of fostering.
With the UK Government recently announcing its ambition to recruit 10,000 more foster
carers by 2029, this commitment has never been more vital. At the end of March 2025, there
were 42,190 1 fostering households in England with a growing shortfall of carers to meet the
needs of children requiring safe and nurturing homes.
Driven by the increasing need for foster carers across the UK, Swiis Foster Care is
encouraging people in Durham to consider fostering. As the UK’s largest independent
family‑owned fostering agency, Swiis ensures every foster carer receives high‑quality
training and comprehensive support to thrive in their fostering career.
